13 Oct A whole commitment to responsible travel
Destinations are making responsible travel an important part of their sustainable tourism programs.
One of our favorite programs is the WH0LE program in Jackson Hole. The code of conduct was developed with students, business leaders, and other key stakeholders.
Together, they came up with the following guidelines for responsible travel behaviors:
Wisdom: Treasure wildlife, wildlands, and community
Harmony: Embrace mind-heart-body-spirit balance in oneself and for ecosystem health
Zero Waste: Refuse products that create waste and pollution. Reduce consumption – Recycle – Reuse.
Local: Connect and be kind to this special place.
Education: Share ideas for environmental, social, and economic prosperity.
The Sustainability Code of Conduct now guides local businesses and travelers to Jackson Hole. Travelers are reminded of Jackson Hole’s whole commitment through brochures, posters, and flyers that folks can see when they visit and are encouraged to embrace its recommendations during their stay.
